The war was nearly over but we didn't know that/ we were too small to know that, we were young and all we knew was our bodies and the games that they liked to play/ I ain't saying I'd do it any better/ So when the war was over I rode a whale back to the states/ To visit my parent's farm/ That's where I stay too this day/ Cast out of my Eden/ So lost without my Eve/ I ain't blaming you for anything

There's an apple in your eye/ I can see it sticking out/ It could be a lot worse though/ I think I can get it out/ I'll keep my hands steady/ I won't sleep a wink/ I'll disinfect all the instruments/ I'll take the utmost care/ I'll be painstakingly precise/ I've got all my time to spare/ I'll keep my hands steady/ I won't sleep a wink/ Until you can look so easily/ at me and blink

6.
Carrots are half eaten by rabbits/ collards are withering in the sun/ tomatoes are the new homes of caterpillars and worms/ spinach isn't even edible now/ So take time to sow/ give love to things that grow/ cause everything that lives knows when it's loved/ when your garden says that you're out of it Spend hours out in the sunlight/ bring the dirt close to your mouth/ have lengthy conversations with grubs and the birds/ they'll tell you the truth you need to hear

about

The Humble tells a handful of tales. Sometimes you just have to put your foot down, or put a stop to things or just not be a part of them anymore. After this, The Humble, I'm officially not a part anymore. I signed my name with 10, sometimes and sometimes not, succinct songs that exist purely because of me and people close to me. This is how I think things happened.

credits

released November 1, 2007

Tim played most things and sang a lot. Jenny played a couple things and sang a lot. Seamonster sang on A Matter of Time and Clockmakers Son. Anthony Hurrell sang on Clockmakers Son and played trombone on Right Arm of God. Rilke sings on Apple of My Eye and purred on Salt of the Earth.

Tim wrote all of these songs but Jenny contributed on a couple and Anthony on Right Arm of God.

This album was recorded in a basement apartment of an old house off of Milledge Ave. in Athens, GA over a spring and summer on a Roland 8-track recorder.
